    Ann Landers was an popular columnist who was read by millions all over the world. Almost everyday she received sacks of email. One thing that was common in most of these letters was that the writer had a problem. And in many cases,the inability to cope was the result of immaturity.

     Reaching the age eighteen- in many countries the official age for adulthood- is no guarantee of maturity. Maturity is not regulated by calendar. In other words, a number of us have never grown up, the countless individuals who maybe financial and professional giants are, in many respects, still emotional midgets.

HERE ARE SOME DEFINITIONS OF MATURITY:

A. MATURITY is the ability to control anger and settle differences without violation or destruction

B. MATURITY is patience,the willingness to pass up immediate pleasure in favor of the long term gain.

C. MATURITY is perseverance, sweating out a project in spite of opposition an discouraging setbacks.

D. MATURITY is unselfishness, responding to the needs of others.

E. MATURITY is the capability to face unpleasantness and dissapointment without becoming bitter.

 F. MATURITY is humility.

G. MATURITY means dependability, intergrity, keeping one's word.

H. MATURITY is the ability to live in peace with that which we cannot change.

    A mature person is able to say, "I am wrong". They are also able to say, "I am sorry". And when they are proved right, they do not have to say, "I told you so". In other condition, the immature have excuses for eveything. They are chronically tardy, the no-shows, the gutless wonder who fold in crises. Their lives are a maze of broken promises, unfinished business and former friends.
